Yes. Your site has one main address, and you can add as many other domains as you like. Each one either forwards visitors to your site or shows the same site under its own name.

People add other domains for all sorts of reasons: the address of an old blog, a misspelling of their name, a country version like `example.de`, or a short domain for a campaign. The domain stays registered wherever it is now.

## Forward visitors or show the same site?

When you add a domain, you choose what it does:

- **Forward visitors to** your main domain sends everyone on to your site. The address bar changes to your main domain.
- **Show the same site** shows your site under the other domain too, and the address bar keeps it.

Forwarding is the right choice almost every time. Search engines see one address for your site, and links people share all point to the same place. Forwarding also lets you send old links to new pages, which matters when the domain belonged to an old site.

Showing the same site is for the rare case where visitors need to see the other domain in their address bar. Search engines still treat your main domain as the real address.

You can switch a domain between the two later, under **Settings** on its page.

## Before you start

Your site needs a custom domain of its own first, because that's where the other domains send visitors. The **Other domains** section on the **Domain** tab only appears once it has one.

## Add a domain that forwards

1. In the customer portal, open the **Domain** tab.
2. Under **Other domains**, click **Add domain**.
3. Enter the domain, for example `old-site.com`.
4. Under **How should this domain work?**, keep **Forward visitors to** your main domain selected.
5. Under **Where forwarded visitors land**, pick one:
  - **On the same page**: a link to `/about` on the other domain opens `/about` on your site. Pick this for an old site whose posts kept their addresses, or for a domain nobody has links to yet.
  - **Always on one page**: every link opens one page you choose, such as your homepage or a landing page for a campaign.
6. Click **Add domain**.

Then click **Finish setup** next to the domain. The page lists the DNS records to add at your domain provider. For a domain like `old-site.com` that's two:

| Type | Name | Value |
| ----- | ---- | ------------------- |
| A | @ | 49.13.201.194 |
| CNAME | www | proxy.magicpages.co |

A subdomain like `go.example.com` needs only the CNAME, with the subdomain as its name.

Copy the values from the portal rather than from here, so you get exactly what your domain needs. If the page also shows **Remove these existing records first**, delete those at your provider before adding the new ones. If your provider has a proxy toggle (Cloudflare's orange cloud), set these records to DNS-only. Otherwise visitors never reach us.

You can also skip the typing. **Set up DNS automatically** signs in to your DNS provider and adds the records for you. And if we already manage the domain's DNS, there's nothing to add at all: we write the records the moment you click **Add domain**.

### Wait for the three checks

The setup page shows three steps: **DNS**, **HTTPS** and **Forwarding**. We keep checking and move on to the next step by ourselves, so you don't need to click anything. If a step runs into a problem, the page says what it found, for example a record that still points somewhere else.

We check every few seconds right after you add the domain, then less often, then hourly for about a day. After that we check once a night. If you add the records a week later, the domain still goes live, but it can take until the next morning.

Once the domain shows **Forwarding**, it's live. We issue the HTTPS certificate for it too, so `https://` links keep working.

If some old links need to go to a different page than the same address on your site, add redirects for them. We wrote about that here:

[How to send old links on a forwarded domain to the right pageAdd redirects for the pages that moved, so every old link on a forwarded domain lands on the right page of your site.![](https://www.magicpages.co/content/images/icon/magic-pages_full-logo_dark-plum-icon-c2c964b9-1f01-4f7f-a936-d37f6f9b1fbd.png)Magic PagesJannis Fedoruk-Betschki![](https://www.magicpages.co/content/images/thumbnail/Facebook-post---1-1-1fe764db-6eee-435d-9e1d-795f837e4f79.jpg)](https://www.magicpages.co/help/domains/how-to-send-old-links-on-a-forwarded-domain-to-the-right-page/)

## Add a domain that shows the same site

This one works the other way round: set up the DNS first, then add the domain. We check the records when you click **Add domain**. If they aren't there yet, you'll see "DNS records are not set correctly for the secondary domain."

For a domain like `old-site.com`, add these at your domain provider:

| Type | Name | Value |
| ----- | ---- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| A | @ | 49.13.201.194 |
| CNAME | www | your .mymagic.page address, like yoursite.mymagic.page |

Then add the domain under **Other domains** with its `www`, as `www.old-site.com`, and pick **Show the same site**. Visitors to `old-site.com` are sent on to `www.old-site.com`.

For a subdomain like `blog.old-site.com`, add a CNAME with `blog` as its name, pointing at your `.mymagic.page` address, and add the subdomain as it is.

## Remove a domain

Open the domain from **Other domains** and click **Remove domain** under **Settings**. Visitors to that domain stop reaching your site, and a forwarding domain's redirects are deleted with it. The domain itself stays wherever it is registered, so remember to change or delete its DNS records there.
