Domains through Magic Pages are in beta. To get access, email [help@magicpages.co](mailto:help@magicpages.co) and we'll turn them on for your account.

A `.uk` domain doesn't move with a transfer code. Instead, its current registrar changes the domain's IPS tag, a short name that says which registrar looks after it, to the new registrar's tag. Nominet, the registry for `.uk`, then moves it. The domain keeps the end date it already has.

This applies to `.uk` and `.co.uk`. Nominet has announced that `.uk` domains switch to transfer codes on 9 February 2027, like other extensions.

## Moving a .uk domain to Magic Pages

1. In the portal, open the **Domain** tab. Under **Registered with Magic Pages**, click **Move one here**.
2. Type the domain and click **Check this domain**. The check says **No transfer code needed.** and shows what the move costs. Click **Continue**.
3. Go through the DNS records and your details as usual, and click **Start the transfer**. You pay on the next screen.
4. The portal then shows **Change the IPS tag at your current registrar**, with the tag to use under **IPS tag**: `REGISTRAR-EU`. That's the tag of Openprovider, the registrar we work with.
5. Ask your current registrar to change the domain's IPS tag to `REGISTRAR-EU`. Some let you do it yourself in the domain's settings, others do it when you ask their support.

The move usually finishes within a few hours of the tag change. Your current registrar has to change the tag within 45 days of us starting the transfer, which we do right after you pay. If it doesn't, the transfer fails, we refund anything you paid, and you can start again whenever you're ready.

When the move costs nothing, the check says **Free to move**, and you first pay at the domain's next renewal.

If you're billed in the UK, we can only take on domains for businesses. Without a UK VAT number, the portal asks you to confirm the domain is for your business or publication, and to give its name.

## Moving a .uk domain away from Magic Pages

1. Ask your new registrar for their IPS tag.
2. In the portal, open the **Domain** tab, and under **Registered with Magic Pages**, click the domain.
3. In **Move this domain elsewhere**, click **Download your DNS records**, or tick **I already have my DNS records** if you have them.
4. Enter the new registrar's tag under **2\. Your new provider’s IPS tag**, and click **Prepare transfer**.
5. Check the name in the confirmation, then click **Set registrar tag**.

Nominet moves the domain as soon as we set the tag, so there's nothing to cancel afterwards. Make sure the tag is right before you confirm. If it has to change, contact your new provider.

## Your site and email during the move

A tag change doesn't touch the domain's DNS, so everything keeps working. Moving to us, we copy your records into our DNS first. Moving away, your site and email keep running on our DNS until the new provider's nameservers take over, so set up your records there before switching.

For the rest of the move away, which works the same for every extension:
