# Extra Emails You Pay For Now Carry Over

A customer wrote in recently with a fair question. They send about 2,500 emails a month on a plan that includes 2,000, got the automatic $5 charge for the extra block, and asked whether the 10,000 emails they'd just paid for would roll over to the next month.

Until today, they didn't. Now they do. This was a change we planned for our upcoming external customer portal, so instead of postponing this further, we implemented it right now.

## What changed

When you go past your plan's included emails, we bill $5 per block of 10,000, rounded up. Exceed your limit by 296 emails and you paid for 10,000, used 296, and the remaining 9,704 disappeared at the end of the period. The next month, the same 296-email overshoot billed another $5.

Meanwhile the pre-paid email packs in your portal cost the same $5 for the same 10,000 emails, and never expire.

Same money, two different things.

From now on, whatever you don't use from a charged block is added to your pre-paid balance, exactly as if you'd bought the pack yourself. In the example above that's 9,704 emails waiting for the next time you go over. No expiry.

## Where you'll see it

Your customer portal, under Newsletter, in the Pre-paid Email Balance card. The credit lands once the charge is actually paid, so it follows your billing date rather than the moment you crossed the limit.

The balance is always spent first. Only once it runs out do we bill another block.
