Setting up a custom sending domain for your newsletter on Magic Pages just got simpler and more secure.
What changed
It's all CNAME records now. Previously, sending from your own domain meant copying an SPF TXT record, a DKIM TXT record, and sometimes MX records into your DNS. The new setup is a small set of CNAME records instead:
- One CNAME at your sending subdomain that publishes SPF for you – no TXT record to maintain.
- Two DKIM CNAMEs with 2048-bit keys that rotate automatically, so your signing keys stay fresh without you ever touching them.
- An optional tracking CNAME for open and click analytics.
No SPF TXT, no DKIM TXT blob, and no MX records on your side.
The old setup used a single static 1024-bit key. The new one uses Mailgun's Automatic Sender Security: stronger 2048-bit keys that rotate on their own. That's a real deliverability and security improvement, handled entirely behind the scenes.
Do I need to do anything?
If you're happy with your current setup, no – existing custom sending domains keep working exactly as they are. The upgrade is entirely opt-in.
If you'd like the new, simpler setup, open your customer portal, go to the Newsletter tab, and look for the "Upgrade email security" banner. There's a full walkthrough in Upgrading Your Newsletter Sending Domain to the New Setup.
