What happens to your site
After handling 200+ migrations, we've learned the move isn't really about the technical questions. It's a "will I lose what I've built" question. Here's what our customers have asked us — and what actually happens.
Will my posts look the same?
Ghost-to-Ghost migrations generally look the same — they're powered by the same tool in the background. Moving from another platform will change the layout and design, but the content itself — posts, pages, images, and tags — comes over and won't be lost.
Will my subscribers come with me?
Yes — your subscriber list comes with you. There can be extra steps depending on your current platform: from Substack or Beehiiv, subscriber records transfer cleanly. Paid members may need a few more steps, like contacting the previous platform or migrating data manually.
Will my emails still land in inboxes?
Absolutely. We monitor the deliverability of our sending infrastructure regularly. You might see a short dip in open rates for 1–2 weeks after switching — that's normal, as inbox providers "learn" that your emails now come from Magic Pages. Once you're warmed up, everything's back to normal.
Will my site be down during the move?
No — we make sure your site stays available throughout the migration. Your current site stays live until the DNS points to us, so your visitors never see a dead page.
Will I lose any SEO and traffic?
No. Your content, URLs, and metadata transfer intact. We preserve your URL structure so search engines keep finding your pages exactly where they expect them.
Will my custom code, integrations, and redirects survive?
Redirects, yes — Ghost has a redirects engine built in. API integrations and custom code also stay the same when you migrate from any Ghost site to Magic Pages. Moving from another platform, you'll likely need to re-write some of that code.

Yes, content migration is free for all Magic Pages customers. We use Ghost's official migration tools to import your posts, pages, tags, authors, and images at no cost. It's part of getting set up on Magic Pages.
WordPress, Substack, Medium, Beehiiv, Blogger, Squarespace, Tumblr, Ghost self-hosted, and 30+ more. Ghost-to-Ghost migrations are true 1:1 clones — your entire site transfers perfectly, including theme, members, and settings.
Custom themes, complex layouts, payment integrations, and advanced redirect rules require hands-on work. We offer these as paid support at $100/hour.
Most content migrations are done within 24 hours. The actual import takes 1-2 hours on our end — the rest depends on how quickly you can export your content and review the result.
Not at all. You export your content (we guide you through it), and we handle the import. The only technical step is updating your DNS when you're ready to go live — and we walk you through that too.
