If your Ghost site has the social web switched on, every post you publish goes out in full to everyone following your site from Mastodon and similar apps, the moment you hit publish. Soon you'll be able to choose what goes out instead.

If that's how you like it, nothing changes. Full posts stay the default.
Why we're building it
Since Ghost 6, your site has its own account on the fediverse, the network of apps Mastodon belongs to, and people there can follow it. Ghost calls this the social web, and gives you one switch for it: on or off.
Publishers have asked us for something in between. Some don't want every post out there, like a weekly roundup or a note about a sponsor. Some write long pieces and would rather send followers a preview and a link. And some want to stop sharing for a while without losing the followers they've built up.
We're adding those choices to your Magic Pages customer portal.
What you'll be able to do
You pick how your posts go out by default: the full post, a preview with a link back to your site, a short note, or nothing at all.
Then you add exceptions. Posts with a certain tag can go out in full while everything else is a preview, or paid posts can go out as a teaser. A preview or a note never includes the paid part of a post.
For long posts, you can mark where the social web version ends. Followers read up to that point and get a link to continue on your site.
Before you save, you see your latest post the way your followers would.
Your choices apply from the next post you publish. Posts that are already out stay as they are.
