This is a question I get asked pretty frequently. What if something happened to me? What would happen to your Ghost site on Magic Pages? The short answer used to be simpler: "probably nothing, you wouldn't notice for a while." That's still mostly true – but it's worth updating, because Magic Pages isn't quite the one-person operation it used to be. Magic Pages started as a true solo operation, and I've always been transparent about that rather than hiding behind an ominous "we." That's changed a bit this year: Sviatoslav joined in February, handling support, and Mariia came on part-time as our fractional Head of Brand & Marketing around March. So there are now people, beyond just my wife, who know how this business runs day to day. I might be biased, but she's one of the smartest and most capable people I know. She's run her own business(https://www.itsmariia.co/) in brand strategy for years, and now that she's actively working inside Magic Pages, she has direct, hands-on knowledge of the business – not just from listening to me ramble about it, but from doing the work herself. Is she a developer like me? No. But between the internal documentation and Sviatoslav's day-to-day involvement in support, the operational knowledge of Magic Pages no longer lives in one head. Website not running? There's a document for that. Database server crashed? Another document. Support tickets? Sviatoslav already handles a meaningful share of those independently. Additionally, Magic Pages has a sort-of "emergency fund" – a good stack of cash that keeps the lights on for at least six months. Payments to recurring services (servers, domains) happen automatically. Worst case, a business credit card expires – but our bank is 5 minutes from home, and the Magic Pages account would legally be accessible to Mariia in a worst-case scenario. So: chances are, you probably wouldn't even notice if something happened to me – maybe even less so now than before.
Backups right where you need them
Your Ghost site on Magic Pages is backed up on a daily basis. Both your uploaded content as well as your database are backed up to two different locations.
These backups are available to download in the Customer Portal at any time. Additionally, you can also create ad-hoc backups as many times you want and download them right away.
This way, even if something were to happen to me, you'd still have these backups, which can be used by any other Ghost hosting provider to put your site onto a different server within a few minutes.
